I left Springer Mt. on April first in the rain, braved the worst storm in ten years on Blood Mt. and woke up at the cheese factory site with nine degrees out side my tent. 10 days of hiking and two zero days and I arrived at NOC. Really bitter sweet for me, my shake down was over but I accomplished my goal and had my faith in huminaty was restored. I had the time of my life and can't wait for next year.Untill then I will have to rely on short day hikes to get my fix.

Sounds like a great hike!

Some things you can do to train in between your smaller hikes to train:

1) not take a shower
2) do your grocery shopping at a gas station
3) get a pair of shoes a half size too small
4) hitch rides to work
5) sit down on the ground for your lunch break

Great list. To which I'd add..

6) Avoid all indoor plumbing
7) Avoid all AC-powered appliances and lighting
8) Avoid used of stove and refrigerator
9) Sleep on the floor
10) Change socks and underwear at three-day intervals
