Going for my long awaited ATC thru hike in "08" . Would like to have a good reliable source for daily weather report and occasional music . At least whenever I'm within broadcast range . Looking for recommendations for a lightweight, sturdy and reliable radio? With headphones ,of course.
I will be retired, by my trail start date . My biggest worry on the trail is getting caught in severe weather . I admit that I'm not very good at predicting my own weather .Figured that a good radio would assist me? Thank you

You can carry a small am/fm radio but most of the time you will out of range except for maybe on mountain tops. The best thing to do is to check internet sites when in towns.

I have a small cd player I'm going to bring. It also has am/fm/tv/weather band. I figure I should be able to pick up a weather report often enough. If I'm able to pick up anything on the weather band, it's usually the NOAH forcast.

I got one at Target. Might be something better on the market by fall.

I carried the Sony M37V last year and had good results. Picked up the NOAA weather stations as well as a few radio and TV stations in the south and by central VA, pretty much had my pick of music.
This one's smaller and lighter and if I had seen it in the store, I probably would have bought it instead.
