I can't seem to find a pattern for a square tarp like the Kelty 9'. I need one based on the 60" width of SilNylon for sale to us junkies. I would like a tarp about the size of the Kelty as well. So you can see my problem. I'm also trying to avoid center seams and cross pulled seams.

By the way, I'm new here to the forums. I have been lurking for a while and love what I read. I'm planning my thru-hike for 2008.

I have a blog about my experiences so far at http://mythruhike.wordpress.com

How about this:take 6 yds fabric, cut into two 3 yd lengths. split one of them lengthwise and attach to selvages of other piece, (French seam or flat felled recommened), roll hem all around and attach tie out loops of your prefernce.

You might want to contact the folkes at Jacks R Better. Ask about their tarp with the seam on the diagonal. It is meant for use over a hammock, because it only needs two tie-out points, one on each side. Owareusa also has tarps that do not have center seams. You add fabric along one side.

I think questoutfitters.com has 72" wide sil...that would help a bit.
