Check this site out ---> http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ you can trace routes (hit start recording and double clicking adds a point) and it will give you your milage and elevation profile. All the trails in the smokies are there (and campsites) as well as other national parks. Not a bad resource for National park trips.

Thanks humunuku. I just spent 3 hours on that site mapping everywhere I could think of - great maps, and great fun.

The Topo tab on the Google Maps interface is worth the link alone. Thanks! Do you know if you can add the topo tab to the regular Google Maps site? I'd also like to see more USGS scales used at the tight zooms. The places I just looked at were pixelated zooms of larger scales in areas where Topozone or the like will offer smaller scales. It's hard to see the trails on hills with dense topo lines. But, being able to scroll around Google-style instead of refreshing the center of the window is a terrific feature.
