Chinese Lantern.
Hog On Ice got it right....
One can eat the root fresh or let it dry completely and grind it into a powder. Not very tasty though.

Jonesy, you have good eyes and know the bad guys of the woods. The plant with white blossom is Garlic Mustard:eek: Scourge of the Woodlands. Is edible in salads, eat as much as you can.:) We want the ID of the big guy in the middle, will not blossom for awhile yet. Is known to make your body feel special and help keep it functioning as it should.

Speaking of dorky subjects that rock...
So while studying Alabama's native flora and fauna...I heard that Alabama considered "Ragweed"(golden Rod) its official flower until someone mentioned...it's not a flower.
I thought maybe a few other dorks would think that is as funny as I do.
