The first one to identify this edible plant (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/obijiwa/plantidstove001.jpg)wins a free Supercat stove. Along with your answers give a method of preparation just for the fun of it.

Another photo of mystery plant (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/obijiwa/plantidstove008.jpg)

Photos were taken today. Plant is a native wildflower not yet blossomed.

I'll give the answer tomorrow evening.

One can eat the root fresh or let it dry completely and grind it into a powder. Not very tasty though.

Jonesy, you have good eyes and know the bad guys of the woods. The plant with white blossom is Garlic Mustard:eek: Scourge of the Woodlands. Is edible in salads, eat as much as you can.:) We want the ID of the big guy in the middle, will not blossom for awhile yet. Is known to make your body feel special and help keep it functioning as it should.

field botany is a hobby of mine - I've seen ginseng several times - both the five leaf as well as the smaller three leaf species

wrt the Super Cat - well lets just put up another contest and see if someone else can ID some other plant - I'll keep my mouth closed this time

Speaking of dorky subjects that rock...

So while studying Alabama's native flora and fauna...I heard that Alabama considered "Ragweed"(golden Rod) its official flower until someone mentioned...it's not a flower.

I thought maybe a few other dorks would think that is as funny as I do.
