I went out in the weather last night during the worst of Hurricane Isabel, to see what caused the loud crash in my back yard (turned out to be part of a large maple tree coming down and grazing my back porch). Anyway, it was raining really hard and I was out in my Frog Trogs for 15-20 minutes. As others have noted, the hood design sucks, but all in all it kept me nice and dry. Very lightweight, of course, and it seems pretty breatheable. I don't how it would wear on the trail, but it works nicely in the rain!

Try wearing a baseball cap under the hood. Works well with any jacket that has a hood. Gives you an 'awning' to keep rain off your face and keeps your head from turning inside the hood (the hood will move with you when you turn your head).

I agree, the hood could be better designed and I hate elastic cuffs, but the overall weight and breathability is superb. I always wear a baseball cap, mainly to keep the rain off my glasses.
