You only need the zip-off pants and some lightweight nylon shorts, not heavy shorts
One pair of boxers only, one t-shirt only
Leave the dri-clime at home, the precip and vest are enough
No precip pants

Go with a lighter tent, look at Henry Shire's TarpTent Rainbow

Forget the Nalgene, get a 1 liter Platypus or Aquafina bottle
Keep your duct tape in your emergency kit, not out where it gets worn and dirty

Consider a short Prolite 4 or Prolite 3, or even a short Zrest
Forget the mug, use your pot
Get a plastic spoon from the camping store, cheaper and lighter
First aid kit sounds heavy, what's in it?

Don't forget TP, baby @55 wipes, earplugs, fingernail clippers, small knife or too, preferably with scissors, heavy garbage bag pack liner

99 cent flip flops for camp shoes and for those nasty hostel showers--crocks weigh almost a pound

I would dump the Driclime jacket and keep the Precip. Dump the shorts you have zip offs that will do the same thing. Tent is heavy i would try to find something lighter. I my self would go with a hammock but that is me. My whole sleep system is right at 5# and that includes quilt (sleeping Bag), Shelter and rain protection (tarp). Also get rid of the candle you will never use it. That is what i would do but YMMV

Needle and thread? I like to use dental floss though.

Hey dgever - :welcome to WB.

Since you asked for it... here's a little feedback on your gear list. The following is just what's worked FOR ME. Don't know what will really work for you. Now, with that disclaimer:
- I'd only take one pair of shorts and since you're taking convertible pants, you don't need a second pair of shorts.
- I'd get rid of the boots and hike in trail runners or running shoes
- I'd replace the crocs with MUCH lighter flip flops
- I'd leave the trek poles at home unless you have existing knee problems, you don't need them.
- I'd replace your sleeping mat with a lighter Ridgerest (9 oz).
- I'd get a much lighter tent. 5 lbs 10 oz is just way too heavy. You can easily shave 2 lbs off that bad boy.
- I'd ditch the nalgene bottle in favor of a disposable (switch out to a new one at town stops) gatorade or powerade bottle. Saves weight and more hygenic.
- I'd ditch the leatherman knife for a 1/2 oz simple knife. You don't need the rest of the stuff on a leatherman often enough to justify the extra weight.
- What are the 4 batteries for? Don't you only need 2 in the headlamp? Extra batteries are just extra weight to carry. And it's no crisis to be found with a dead headlamp for the last day before town.
- And lastly, with a mid-March start, I'd take mittens instead of gloves.

Best of luck with your shake-down hikes. I'm sure you'll find out what works for you.
Hope to see you out there next year,
Laura/1Pint

Good advice, except I disagree with ditching the crocs. You'll be happy to have something to wear besides your boots at the end of the day. And flip flops are no good when you're walking down a steep hill to collect your water, or walking over rocks and roots to get to the privy.

You might, however, want to re-weigh those crocs. My cheapo Wal-Mart ones weigh half what you have listed here. Or maybe you just have really big feet...
