Got this link from Joe from Iowa's trailjournal and thought it was worth sharing.

Do you need Google Earth or Google Earth Pro to use this?

Thanks for sharing that link. There is also a Map Google for 3-D, it has some of the shelters in Georgia, but stops after that. The 3-D map is awesome. You can see the evlevation of the trail. I can't get any work done looking at all these maps. Thanks, I do like the Shelter map.

I believe it's Google Earth.

Trailfoot,

Thanks, Google Earth Pro is AWESOME!! I spent 3 hours flying all over the earth. One of my favorite trips was leap-frogging from AT shelter to AT shelter via the table that was made from the file you linked to (once I imported it).

For those (like me) who are into this kind of thing, you can also download the file that generates the entire trail centerline from here (http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/888578/page//vc/1) . (right click on the View in Google Earth link, and do "Save As" to save it to your machine) Just open Google Earth, and then open both the shelter kml file, and the trail kmz file, and you can cruise the whole trail. Pretty cool.

Thanks rusty075, that adds to a near perfect AT in Google Earth Pro, (with 3D)
