I want a pair of these boots, I just can't find out too much about them and don't want to leap before I look.

Anyone have an opinion on them?

Six pounds seems like a lot. (Just a thought.)

Rather than opinion, I have a question for you.

Why would you want what looks like a variation of Combat Boots?

Military boots do not necesarily make for the best hiking boots for less than $275 you can get some sweet boots made for hiking at half the weight. Check out Vasque and Lowa.

I had a pair for years. Had them resoled with new vibram soles three times because I used them aboard ship and non-skid steel decks eat soles. Great boots when used for what they're designed for. That being hard military use. I only got rid of them because I had to upgrade to steel toes.

If you are looking for hiking boots, buy hiking boots. If you are looking for a good military boot, they'll do. I have Danners now which are a little lighter even with the steel toe and full steel shank.

I use boots for more than hiking, cold weather stuff, swamps, etc. My real question was, do they keep your feet cool and dry when it is hot, do they keep your feet warm and dry when it is cold,do they keep your feet dry when you are standing in 6" of water for 30 hours, etc.

I don't know about 30 hours, but they kept my feet dry and warm during 63 boardings in the gulf which can be a very wet endeavor depending on sea state. But I never had to deal with truly cold weather in those boots. I had Thinsulate lined boots for the really cold stuff when I was stationed in Europe.

They kept my feet fairly dry but after a few hours of hard labor, there's nothing on the planet that's going to keep my sweaty dogs dry.(sorry for the visual)
