How about this one?

http://www.fs.fed.us/conf/webcam.htm

Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia. Its not on the AT but there is a blue blazed "Jacks Knob" trail that connects this mountain to the AT @ Chattahoochee gap. The trail is 4 1/2 miles long with 2,500 ft. of elevation gain from Chattahoochee Gap to Brasstown Bald. I haven't done this trail yet but would like to someday.

Elevation 4,784 ft.

Wow, those are all excellent sites. Anybody have any more. I've tried to look at the trail on Terra Server, satellite photos but I am not that familiar with the route, tried to pick it up going out of towns and such but no luck.

Here is a cam in the Shining Rock Wilderness in NC. Great view but the camera got some dirt or something on it about a month ago...needs to be cleaned!

A fellow put together and just announced a list of known webcams near the PCT (http://www.planyourhike.com/media/index.html#cams).
Seems like a very useful idea, i.e., if planning to hike anywhere near a webcam around this time of year, have a look to see if and how much snow is on the ground at least.

Given how many more people hike the AT, I was a little surprised that there wasn't already a similar collection for the AT, so with a little searching I found this (http://www.trailquest.net/webcams.html#at).
But it doesn't look like it's being maintained; some of the links no longer work, or require some additional searching, or the cam is "down for maintenance", or the link doesn't get to a very useful cam view.
And there are quite a few less cams than on the PCT, which again, surprised me.

The point of my post isn't to complain (!), just wondering if my search might have missed something. I'm tempted to solicit pointers to cams to put together such a list myself, but will be hiking the trail in less than a month, so couldn't follow-up very well.

Yup, note that I sort of resurrected a thread that stopped in 2003; I didn't see the need to start a new thread that was talking about something similar.

This just illustrates the issue that collections of web cam links need to be maintained; I wouldn't be inclined to start a new such collection without a plan to do just that (one that didn't rely on any one person being solely responsible --- I think such maintenance is best done by a small group).
