while it is cool to have the press, the pictures are actually pretty mediocre. poor lens and prespective choice. but the hikers look like they are having fun. I know a few of them and have hiked with them this year.

I like the photos, but even more the little bio write-ups about the hikers.

I hope the News Sentinel will do more of this.

Gizmo took the best photos ever of some of the thru hikers in 2000. I heard that he's a ridge runner this year. He's not just good...he's damn good.

I have no photographic talent but will throw in my two-cents anyway...I don`t think there`s anything actually wrong with the photos EXCEPT I would have used a natural background for them..I think the idea was more to just document the hikers and a brief part of their story rather than make studio perfect family portraits of people.

I hiked a bit with Raymond Quan and Jeff Palmer. Met them briefly at Uncle Johnny's and then ran into them again on the Hump Mountains. They both were easily hiking at twice my speed -- while I was ready to have a cardiac arrest, they went up the mountains as if it was level ground.

I really enjoyed the story and the photos. The magazine the ATC puts out did something similar a few issues back along with some of the trailnames that were encountered.

Makes me excitted about my next section hike!!!:banana
