The Mass AT Committee is leading work projects to build a new shelter at the Wilcox South site in June on the following dates:
12th, 16th, 19th, 22nd, 26th and 30th.

Meet at the Benedict Pond boat launch by 9am for a ride up to the access trail. If you are coming on the 12th, let me know as we will be transporting in the first load of materials and I'm not certain about our arrival time.

The existing South Wilcox Shelter will remain in place, we are installing the new shelter about 100yds away to provide some increased capacity and a dry place to sleep when it gets wet and windy.

There is work for all skill levels: schlepping in materials (approx 1/4 mile), some simple hammer and nail work, installing bunks, and roofing. We will also be applying stain to the exterior near the end of the project.

Regardless of how you feel about AT shelters, there is nothing like sleeping in one you actually helped to build. Come join us, even for just a day.

Please feel free to pass this on to other forums. For more info, contact me at [email protected].
