The stone arch bridge that takes the AT north into Boiling Springs will be closing for repairs from 7/1/07 to 8/10/07, according to a sign I saw on the bridge yesterday. I don't know if hikers will be able to use it while the work is in progress. If not, hikers will have a significant detour to get into Boiling Springs. I will bring this to the attention of ATC. If I hear anything from them, I will post it.

IF the bridge is closed to pedestrian traffic, hikers can simply ford the creek.

They'll have to set up a raft with a white blaze so their feet don't get scalded in case the Boiling Springs gets released upstream. :D

That's true most of the time. The Yellow Breeches is normally pretty shallow & placid. It sure is right now.

I've been told that hikers will be able to cross the bridge during the construction, even though vehicles will be barred.:sun
