I left Kent yesterday after spending the night on the church lawn. The Rector was quite nice. The Kent Market is under the new ownership of Dawn since January. She has a small diner in addition to groceries. Breakfast can be had under $5. Eggs, home fries, toast, bacon, etc. She opens officially at 6 am but is there from 5 am and will serve the early hikers. Some of her groceries (including Ben & Jerry's) cost less than the IGA. I asked her if I could direct hikers her way and she was thrilled with the idea. It is a good deal for all. The Shanghai Chinese is good and reasonable (under $10). The laundromat is open with new machines. It is a bit pricy at $3 a load for washing and $1.25 for drying but group loads make it cheap. There is an ice cream shop where you can get about a pint of hard ice cream for $3.45. It is a good deal. Don't let folks tell you that you have to have deep pockets to stay in Kent. I didn't find that to be the case.

Say hi to Dawn and Joan at the Market!
