I'm using an MSR Whisperlite stove and white gas on an upcoming 2-week section hike in New York and New Jersey. I plan on having an 11-oz. fuel bottle to start. I also have a 22-oz. secondary bottle, but I'd prefer to leave it home to lighten the weight.
Are there enough places to pick up fuel on the AT as I hit the various crossings near towns? I've never tried to calculate how much fuel the stove will use, but I don't plan on burning it for more than 20 to 30 minutes per day.
Any thoughts are appreciated, especially regarding fuel supply and fuel consumption.
