I am posting this through the account of my brother, Edward Keaton, AKA AT Beatle. He hiked the trail in 1982 with his friend Sam Douglas. He recently attended the Trail Days event in Damscus, VA this past May.

Ed was suddenly and tragically taken from us on June 16, 2007 in a fatal accident caused by a drunk driver near Wichita Falls, Texas.

A website in memory of Edward Keaton was created by his family.

You can visit the site by going to http://edward-keaton.memory-of.com (http://edward-keaton.memory-of.com/)

I don't know how many of you knew him hiked with him or just exchanged messages with him here, but he was a devoted lover of the AT, and was recently going over all his pictures and notes from his hike, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of that journey.

I am just happy that he was able to attend Trail Days, and take a few moments to walk a bit of the trail in Virginia just recently.

Beatle will be cremated, and some of his ashes will be spread along the trail he loved so dearly.

Thank you for reading.

Beatle's brother, William Keaton

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

If you'd like you can add his picture into the "In memory of" forum in the photos section. If you don't know how, maybe an admin would do that for you.

Thanks Austex, I didn't know there was a "In Memeory Of" forum. Unless they disable my brother's account, I'll put a picture up there. Or I'll get my own account here, once I get a copy of all his pictures.
