okay, okay...i know i'm a few years (& miles) from Katahdin...but,
since i'm a "section-hiker" when i summit...would i be the class of 2002 (the year i started) or class of _____ (year i complete)?


whats your opinion?:D

Just like you are part of the class you graduate with, whether you were held back or not, you are part of the class the year you summit. my opinion.

whats your opinion?:D Up north, when we talk about high school class years, we use the year you finished, not the year you started. I can only assume that applies to the AT, also.

That may or may not hold true in the south, given the recent sweet tea, grits, scrapple, home fries vs. hash browns, white corn vs. yellow, and BBQ sans sauce discussion we had recently.

Still, all things being equal, I would go with the year you finished.
