A buddy and I are going out for 3 weeks from August1st-August19th and we need a couple good loops to backpack on. I have hiked the smokies, but I don't want to backtrack any of the trails we do. Are there any good loops that are 5-7 days long that start preferably at cades cove? We would like to keep coming back to cades cove and re-supply once a week from our car. Any help would be great. Thanks

Do the loop using the AT and BMT. Keeping the mileage down to around 10 miles/days should allow for three weeks of hiking.

Have you seen this trail map? http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/upload/trails2005.pdf

You can also the Trails Illustrated Map from National Geographic to keep on you while hiking.

Fontana- Davenport Gap, stay at Standing Bear and head North to Hot Spings and Erwin. Great views, challenging hike, great stops and trailtowns.

I like hikerheads idea. This would be a great trip. If you need resupplies, you could use two cars. Leave one at Smokemont campground and one at Newfound Gap.
