Does any one know if Rockwell Rd up Mt Greylock is open. we want to do some trail magic and thought sence the lodge was closed it would be a good spot. Also we could get some hiking in our selves for the afternoon. If not any suggestion any where between Ma and Ct would be ok. Also are there many thrus up this way yet? Thanks tag along

Historic Parkway Rehabilitation
The road system is closed to all public access: automobiles, bicycles, and foot traffic for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Roads are currently under repair for safety and access improvements. This affects public access to certain facilities; as a result the summit is not accessible by automobile, Bascom Lodge and the Veterans War Memorial Tower are closed, the campground (primitive overnight area) and Stony Ledge are accessible by hiking only. Full operation and access to these facilities are scheduled to resume in 2009 upon completion of the Historic Parkway road repairs. The Visitors Center and trails remain open.

we snuck in just a few weeks before the road closed. evidently it is going to be down for a while. thats fine. dont need a road up there anyways. although, last time we went up we did take a car and got a flat due to potholes, so maybe the road does need some work..:)

In answer to your question re: thrus up in that area; Yes, they are up there. Hopeing Green Hornet lands in Salisbury, CT today.... http://www.freesmileys.org/emo/ad/no.gif He was hiking with a pretty large group when he hit Kent, CT on Saturday morning....

With this heat, I'm sure anything cold would be extremely welcomed. :)

Actually you can't go wrong, as you said, pretty much anywhere in MA or CT is fine. This time of year you'll find plenty of friends.
