I have someone driving to pick me up in Erwin, TN and wanted to know what the driving time is from Asheville to Erwin?

45 minutes to an hour, give or take.

45 minutes or so. I would highly advise you not speed...and that's all I'm sayin'.

It is a gorgeous drive. Just spectacular.

Agreed... the speed limit isn't a suggestion down around there. I've had friends pulled over for doing 2 mph over. No joke.

Another vote for not speeding in this area.

To get to Erwin from the east, is it easier and faster to come in from Boone area or Asheville?

Where are you coming in from? Asheville is to the south, and Boone is to the east.

Ill be coming from Greensboro

Go through Asheville... it'll let you stick to the highways which is MUCH faster around there. Even though Boone and Asheville are about the same distance away, only maybe 10 or 15 miles different, the trip from Boone takes about twice as long.

I say allow an hour for the trip, in case of any slowdowns, and to enjoy the scenery. That part of I-26 over the mountains is the only section of interstate in North Carolina designated as a scenic byway. As noted by others, it IS patrolled.
