Folks,

I am planning a weekend hike from Roan Mountain Heading north. Normally, men and a buddy drop a car at either end of the trail and hike between the cars. I know we can park at Roan Mountain, but I can't seem to find a good intersection or parking are 30-35 miles north of there. Is there anywhere to stash a car near the Moreland Gap Shelter? I recall seeing a parking area tool on WB, but can't seem to find it . . .

Park a car at Watagua Lake itself...( I would make sure it was ok with local enforcement )......That should be right within your mileage hopes.......... The trail goes straight into the parking area on 321, a couple of miles before you get to the shelter.......... Or Kincora or the other hostel in Dennis Cove if you don't want to go quite that far.......... Check the ALDHA site or here on WB database to make sure, but you have some options that are doable...............

The safest place to park is at Kincora Hostel on Dennis Cove road.

Bob Peoples will shuttle you to Roan Mt for a very reasonable fee, saving the expense of driving a 2nd car.
