I have a shuttle located but now need to find a place to spend the night near Neels Gap. I'm to meet my shuttle at the parking lot north of the AT on HWY US 19. Is there a place near by to spend the night? I'll be arriving late so I don't want to hike in and camp anywhere.

Do what I did, sleep in your car at the Bryon H. Reese lot. Its actually nice there. I slept there last Friday night Oct 17th before I set out on my short section hike.

Uncle Wayne, the outfitter at Neels Gap can probably best answer you question (706-745-6095).
I don't know what the current regulations are about camping at the Byron Reese Memorial parking lot. People used to camp there but it might be a no-no now. There is a $2/day parking fee.
