Is a marmot pounder a warm enough summer bag for a thru hike? The bag doesn’t seem to be that warm and temps can drop pretty low at night.

What is the bag rating, I am bringing a 40 degree bag for my thru-hike. Just depends how much you like the cold.

I've used the Marmot Pounder and found the temp rating to be way off. I'd give it a +55 rating for myself. I get cold easily, so I always carry a warmer bag than most people.

it's a great summer bag. not really 3 season. I agree, 55 sounds about right.

I used a Marmot Pounder the beginning of June in Central Virginia this year. I was quite cold a couple of nights. 55+ sounds about right.

I used a pounder in 06. From May 22 at Partnership Shelter in S. VA to Glencliffe NH in late August where I switched by 15* Mountain Hardware. Often the pounder was too hot---never too cold though I did use my silk liner once or twice inside the pounder. My hiking buddy Veto often complained that his Pounder made him sweat. I had the same issue with it often being too hot. YMMV. Handlebar, GA-ME 06
