I am thinking about hiking the AT section from Erwin, TN, up over Roan Mt. and on to Dennis Cove Rd., near Hampton, TN., in a couple of weeks. I know that most of Tennessee is in a drought right now, but upper East tenn. has had more rain than we have had in Middle Tenn.

Has anyone been on the trail in this area in the last week or so? If so, what is the water situation there? Is there water at all the shelters? Is there any water on the trail between the shelters?

:sun Thanks for the info.

I just came in from a 3 day hike in Damascus area. The water was adequate. All the points in the trail guide that had water listed, had at least minimal amounts available.
