GatorGump is NOBO thru-hiker this year. He is sick (likely Giardia) and his wife is pretty darned worried - as any hiker's spouse would be. This thread is for those who see him in Maine to post his whereabouts and general condition. If you have problems with him, use one of the other threads to vent about that.
This is in the straight forward forum and the purpose is to post his whereabouts and general condition and nothing else.

Did he ever make it to Katahdin? I am sorry to hear about his illness, regardless of his flamboyancy.

He is in Maine. He has a journal on the Trail Journals website which shows his whereabouts.

no. he was still 150 miles shy of katahdin as of 2 days ago

It must have serfaced after old Speck. He looked fine the night I talked with him there. He was also talking about slowing way down.

I am sure hoping the Old Gator makes it because I like the way he writes
his journal.Took a little while to get used to his sense of humor and hopefully
we are all over the "plaque-thing" so let's all wish the Gator well.
I say he will recover and perservere.It's only August.Go for it GATORGUMP!!!!!!!

Yeah he has plenty of time but with that bad ticker he needs to stay healthy or he could find himself in big trouble.

He is also diabetic and has had a heart attack.But he still has the will to win.

Yeah. Diabetic too.
On the the first page of his journal he sez:
"Should tell you i am a strappingly good looking fifty year old with absolutely no woodsy skills. i am a diabetic who had a heart attack at the ripe ole age of 48 and, oh yea, i have allergies."

hmm. when i met him here in damascus he looked fit as a fiddle. looking well doesn't mean you are well i guess

Flamboyancy is a bad thing? From Merriam-Webster's online dictionary - "marked by or given to strikingly elaborate or colorful display or behavior."

Now, see, when you delete this, people are gonna think that I was picking on Gump, and I wasn't!

I'd imagine he's somewhere in the 100 mile wilderness if he was zero'ing in Monson on Monday. ;)
He'll probably summit Sunday or Monday.
