Does anybody own this/use this? Do you like it? It has a fairly large capacity, 5,000 cu in. I'm new to backpacking/hiking and am going on a two week hike on the trail in June.....my main question is, where does the sleeping bag go? I thought all packs had straps or something at the bottom to tie the sleeping bag on. I don't see that on the Jansport and didn't see anything like that on the Osprey Atmos, any help and/or thoughts on the Jansport bag?

With a pack that big, you should be able to get it inside the pack! Is the trip going to be two weeks with not resupply points? If not you could probably go with a smaller pack.

You can pack it any way you want, usually the heavier items go in the bottom - close to your hips to keep your center of gravity low as possibe.

That is a really big pack, Like Stumpy said, unless you have no resupply points along the way - that pack is *too big. I would look at a pack around 3,500 cu inch at the most.
* what are you bringing along? Standard hiking gear?

If you are set on that pack, you could always just sew on some straps at the bottom - no harm in setting it up the way you want it.

actualy it's better to put the heavier items from the middle of the pack upword
the bottom and the top of the pack are the lightest items.
this is putting the heavier items in the mid back position.
this is for internal and external frame packing.

Internal frame packs like the Atmos carry the sleeping bag on the inside.

I carry My tent inside my pack, as well as my sleeping bag
it is an internal 4700 ci pack with its own compartments for both.
the bag goes in the bottom with lite stuff like Underwear
and the tent on top with the pack cover tyvek ground cloths
stove fuel and water on side pockets.
but if You pack the heavy stuff down, you will lug yourself,
and not get far,
the best Hip riding belt was the Jansport D2/D3 Series, with the Original
hipbelt with the steel arms, You would have to cinch it very tight to
heavy side down packing, and it would do it, but very uncomfortable while doing it.

Thanks for the tips. I was not aware that everything went inside the pack, as i said, I'm still new at this. We are planning one stopping one week in to re-supply on any necessary items such as food. Thanks again!

That is not a law on the AT or PCT many like putting their
tents and ground cloths on top of the pack and sleeping bags near the bottom of the pack,
whatever works.
the trouble with most tents is the pack size is too wide for a lot of packs.
I prefer a pack size for tents no more than 19 inch wide.
I'd love to find another Gerry scoutmaster tent.
but use a Ranger tent, by white stag that opens from the side
and is 7 long by 5 ft in front tapering down to 4 foot in the back
its 4ft 6 in high in front to 4 in the back
it's no longer made (1986)
its pack size is 12x6 inches, with fly inside stuff sack.;)
