pretty neat, now all they need to do is sell 3 or 4 items at once, this way people with short attention spans - me - will have something new to look at every minute or so.
I do like the site.

Now wouldnt that be nice!! It does make an impulse buyer out of a person tho!

And oddly... As I was on the phone telling a friend about this site, as the page came up she told me the item up for grabs... wellllll... it was NOT the same item I was looking at. I did a refresh and nothing changed...she did the same, nothing... whats up with that?

I think it's a terrible idea. You see gear and you have a ticking clock in your face while you try to find reviews for the product, compare prices for the product against similar items, and even determine if the item is something you'd be interested in or not!

If I'm not even afforded the opportunity to do the most basic due diligence, then forget it. Completely unreasonable.

Ehhhhh yeah I see your point but most people with a little experience already know what they're looking for and what has been said about it.

It is a bad idea for impulse buyers, I agree. I have a few specific pieces that Im looking for, and Ive already done the homework... I hope they show up.

Well if you already know what you're looking for, how useful is a page that shows you random items? I guess you could just watch it hoping something you are already looking for pops up randomly, but that could take hours! It takes an hour to sit through 15 items!

This would be MUCH more useful if I had longer to buy, say, within a DAY even. This wouldn't be disagreeable to the seller of the items I'm absolutely sure. I doubt $random_seller is going to care that I purchased the item at 3:00PM or 7:45PM the same day.

www.steepandcheap.com (http://www.steepandcheap.com) operates in a similar fashion, but there's no time limit. You have until someone beats you to it. I think that's a much better system than the artificial time restriction that doesn't benefit the buyer, the seller, OR the website itself.

I took a look at their forum and it appears they're still working out kinks and taking suggestions as to how to make the site better, guess I should go put some bugs in their ear. :p

FYI, steepandcheap.com owns gearengine.com
