GUY WATERMAN ALPINE STEWARDSHIP FUND ANNOUNCES FOREVER WILD:
A CELEBRATION of WILDERNESS
MULTIMEDIA CONCERT in SUPPORT of WATERMAN FUND
One of America's truly unique folksingers and backcountry travelers, Walkin' Jim Stoltz, on tour from the mountains of Montana, will bring his moving, multi-media show, Forever Wild, to Dartmouth's College's Filene Auditorium in Hanover, New Hampshire, on Sunday, November 9 at 7pm. The photography, stories and music make this one-of-a-kind concert an inspiring journey into our nation's wilderness areas.
The event will be a fundraiser for the Guy Waterman Alpine Stewardship Fund. The Fund's objective is to strengthen the human stewardship of the open summits, exposed ridgelines, and alpine areas of the Northeast. In the past year, the Fund has financed alpine stewardship projects undertaken by the Dartmouth Outing Club, Green Mountain Club, US Forest Service and Appalachian Mountain Club.
Walkin' Jim gets his name from nearly 25,000 miles he has walked through the wild country of North America. Carrying a guitar and writing his songs along the way, his lyrics express a great love and respect for the wild places he knows so well. Known for his powerful baritone and emotion-packed vocals, his Forever Wild show combines live music and poetry with stunning, multi-image slides.
Stoltz is a veteran of 30 years of performing. In this year's show, he will be sharing images and songs from the Utah wildlands, the Northern Rockies, the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, and a Yellowstone to Yukon walk.
Walkin' Jim has been presented with the Environmental Protection Agency's Outstanding Achievement Award. Edward Abbey, the late author of many nature classics, described Stoltz as, "A music man of exuberance and passion." Stoltz's eight recordings get regular airplay on National Public Radio. He is a co-founder of Musicians United to Sustain the Environment.
Tickets for the concert will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $10 per person, $5 for students and seniors. Advance tickets can be obtained by e mail, by contacting Al Sochard at [email protected] or calling (603) 466-2273.
The Waterman Fund is a donor-supported non-profit fund and is part of the Upper Valley Community Foundation, based in Hanover, New Hampshire, which manages personalized charitable funds for individuals, families and organizations.
