My annual section hike is coming up Sept 20. Five of us will be
hiking from Damascus north 60+ miles. A few years ago we had
trouble finding water in this area. Anyone been through that
section know what the water situation is looking like?
Lone Wolf, have you heard anything?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Trip Report:
Some locations had no water, but there was enough available to enjoy the
hike with no problems. No water at Trimpi shelter, spring at the site of
the old Raccoon Branch shelter was dry, but 1000ft down the creek bed
water was comming out. most of the creeks had enough water like the
one at the new Hurricane Mt shelter and Wise shelter. Old Orchard shelter
spring was dry so we carried water from Fox creek. The spring at Thomas
Knob was dry, but Deep Gap spring was very good. Also the spring at
White Top Mt was good. Lost Mt shelter spring was good and Saunders
shelter spring was very slow, but put out a gallon of water about every
25-30 minutes. I sure hope they get some rain soon, some of the
ground was very dry and hard. Acorns were falling by the ton (ouch:eek: )
and on the trail are like walking on ball bearings.....
any way, a good time was had by all. Pictures comming soon.
