Has anyone tried out the new Sawyer Just Drink? It's supposedly a 3.5 oz. in-line filter (hook up to your hydration bladder).

I use one as a replacement filter for my ULA Amigo. Works fine as a gravity filter and OK with a hydration bladder too.
Details on 'works OK' please?

It's not as easy as drinking already filtered water through an unobstructed hose, obviously. But it's not too bad. Kinda like a medium thick milkshake, if that makes sense?
Like I said I use it as a gravity filter and it's jamb-up. The flow is about as fast as a Pur hiker will pump and it's easy to backwash and/or take it apart to sanitize it every so often. The hydration bladder option just makes it more versatile to me. Nice to know I can use it that way if need be.
It's rated for a 500 gallon life. I hope to get close to that as it's pretty expensive(50-55$).
The weight on my scale is @ 2.5 oz. "dry" and 3 oz. "wet". It's easy to unscrew the housing and shake out the excess water to help prevent freezing in winter.
Keep in mind, I haven't yet used it for a trip longer than three days at a time. I've no idea how the flow would be affected for extended trips yet.
After it's 500 gallon 'life' (that's 2000 liters, or 2 100 day thru-hikes at 10L/day) I heard that you can just backwash it and that it's good to go again.
Also, what size is the one that you screw onto a water bottle? I prefer not to use drinking tube setups. Could it be screwed onto a nalgene-size opening and just be put onto a lightweight water bag?

I've seen the one you're referring to but don't have that exact model. It comes with a Nalgene (http://www.passportmagazine.net/43/images/Sawyer.jpg)as I remember.
Mine looks like this (http://www.jumpcut.com/Skidsteer?subnav=sets&folder_id=DD5568AC5E3A11DCABBB000423CEF682). Just a basic 'Just Drink' filter w/o the bottle adaptor. The bottle adaptor basically makes it work like a straw in your bottle.

I don't see why not, so long as the threads are the same. REI sells both so it would be easy to check in the store before you buy. The only thing you might need to alter is the tubing length, which would be pretty easy.

I just received the Sawyer SP120 inline filter. What is the the plunger end looking thing for:confused: ? This part has an attached hose.

Faucet adaptor (https://sawyerfamilyprotection.com/productimages/SP120_L_FAMILY_.jpg)(upper left-hand photo), most likely. So you can backwash the filter mid trip(in a motel sink, for instance).
Mine didn't include it but I had one from my original H2O Amigo.
Hold it on the faucet with your hand while backwashing or you'll get a surprise! Otherwise they work pretty well.

Aha right there on my box:o. It said not included! I did try that and since it didn't hold on too well I was stumped. As you say, do hold it on tightly. I also have a portable dishwasher attachment on mine, so I'll try it on another sink.
