I hiked from my desk to my truck this morning pretty fast, as it was pouring.
I hiked to the men's room at a pace of 7 MPH. Taco's last night.......

One of the most appreciated speed hikes to occur at your office no doubt

Yes sir, no doubt indeed. Mine usually include a fair amount of crop dusting which causes significant prarie dogging.

Speed is not an artificial means of propulsion.

...and socks. Let's not forget Earl didn't wear socks in 1948 or 1998.

There was no AT endurance record this year. Don Quixote had the shortest time that I know of this year (under three months).
A new unsupported endurance record was set on the LT this summer by AT05 and PCT06 Jennifer Pharr. This marked the first time a long distance trail endurance record has been held by a woman.
Shortly after Jennifer's accomplishment on the LT, AT thru-hiker Susan Johnson set the supported record (for both men and women) on the John Muir Trail.
Two stunning achievements in the small but intense subculture of long distance trail endurance record hiking/running.
Let's not forget Earl didn't wear socks in 1948 or 1998.
ugh! Another reason to avoid shelters.
Thank you for sharing that information Warren.

Yes I can, and thank you for mentioning it. Mega Ultra Speed Hiking allows you to do, see, and feel things that regular hikers miss. Like being able to smell colors.
I didn't do anything like that this year. But as time passes, and we get closer to 2008, my brain is gradually turning to MUSH.
