I started looking to figure out who had journals up based on profiles - and got sort of tired of looking at everyone's user info. So for the sake of making it easy for me - who has a journal on-line somewhere. And for this it can be anywhere - not just TrailJournals.

TrailJournals: Cannibal

I'll ask; why? I mean I trust you and all that, but I'm basically a nosy person. :)

Well I was looking to see who will be out on the trail with me next year and figured one of the best ways to figure out who is who would be journals people have started for 2008. I started looking there but find that someone's name here and name there can be different.

That's what I figured when I realized which forum this thread is in. :o

There seems to be quite a crop of hangin types out there for 08 from the TJs I've been reading.

I will eventually start one, I started one ages ago, but I need a new one, once I have the motivation required, I will.

I'm making plans for a thru and section, depending on Ed. We'll get back from Belize and Guatemala in Feb, and hope to start the AT 1st week in Apr. We've been "trying" for a couple years now, and I'm starting to lose hope we'll ever get there.

Glad you're back, Sgt.

Thanks, I imagine there will be some form of "Where the hell is SGT Rock?" Thread when I hike.

Hey, '08's, let's give 'em all a good read!I agree. So far 2003 was the year of the AT Journal, with Liteshoe. Hot Dog and Wench, Journey, Footslogger, Tennessee, Rocket, Bono, The Flying Scotsman ("If its nae scottish its craa--p"), and I know I've forgotten other great journalists.

Let's make 2008 the year of the trail journal. We can do it!

Sgt. Rock if you are starting Jan. 27 it looks like I might be chasing after you as I'm hitting the trail Feb. 12. I haven't really gotten my AT journal started for 2008, but I kept a journal for my most recent hike at www.trailjournals.com/skittles

I had a test journal set up here on WB, but can no longer find it. I'd like to start one as well, not sure which link to do so, looked around and I must be missing it. :)

Troll took down the main link to those test journals when he went to the final software - but you can still find the if you know where to look: http://www.whiteblaze.net/journals/showentry.php?e=195&catid=searchresults&searchid=31

I do, at trail journals, for the LT (not sure if you meant only for AT hikes)

...and I'll be out there in 2008 for the AT, just haven't started a journal for it yet.

But my hike's not until 2010. I have a lot of prep work to do, though, so I saw no reason not to start typing.

Good luck next year, Sarge.

I keep a general travel journal at Blogger:

http://www.cube13.com

I will probably cross-post to TJ once I hit the trail, but for now it's hard enough keeping one journal up to date!

All the best to everyone in 2008!

Thanks SGT Rock, will set up a new one now, just haven't had the chance. Do you still have that spreadsheet for planning somewhere? I'd like to check it out, would like to get things finalized for spring, and weights are always an issue :)

I have the LiveJournal community, http://community.livejournal.com/stealthcamping/ . So far, I'm the only one who makes new posts, so it's become my trail journal.

Would not be unlikely that I'll be section hiking the New England states in '08. It'd be novel to hike places where there are other people.
