What is the exact distance from Massie Gap parking area to Mt Rogers summit?
Companion says Massie Gap is at mp 490.4, but trail to Grayson Highlands, etc. is 492.6.
And cut-off to summit is at 487.1.
I've been there almost a dozen times and dont remember it being 2 miles from the parking lot to Massie Gap (ie, 6 miles to summit one-way).
Normally it wouldnt matter, but we want to do a short day hike tomorrow, as we'll have our 8 week old and want to plan on 8 miles or less RT. We'd like to hike in from Grayson rather than Elk Garden if possible because its more scenic and we really like wilburn ridge.
