Im new to hiking is anyone from Alabama out there? Wants to find groups or clubs or individuals to hike Bankhead National Forest or Sipsey Wilderness.

There is a North Alabama chapter of the Sierra Club. Check out www.sierraclub.org/na (http://www.sierraclub.org/na)

The Sipsey is great. Did an overnight with my son back in January. Very nice even though there is no elevation to speak of.

Also come up to Huntsville and explore the Land Trust trails. They do not allow camping, but you could base camp at Monte Sano State Park and hike a lot of miles from there.

BigAL, theres also a group from AHTS getting together this weekend for a car camp and we are doing an over nighter in Talladega Natl Forest next month.
