I'm going to be in Lexington, Virginia for a few days next week and want to do a day hike on the AT. Does anyone know of a good 5-7 mile or so loop in the area, or of a good place where I can find information?

Thanks for your help.

BTW I'll be in Jax next week, know of a good woodsy day hike (off the beach)?

An easy hike is from US-60 (east of Buena Vista) southbound to the reservoir for Lynchburg (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=1734&original=1&c=). The AT follows Brown Mountain Creek for an hour before wrapping around the reservoir to the dam. Very easy and pleasant.

Another option might be to park on the Blue Ridge Parkway north of the Punchbowl Shelter and hike south to the summit of Brushy Mountain where the memorial to Ottie Cline Powell (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=1735&original=1&c) is located.
