Good timing, plus they say it'll be extra good this year because of a late hard freeze last spring and a very dry summer.

The 'leaves' were not too colorful last Saturday at Carvers Gap...but maybe they will be by then...

See you on the trail,

i think it may be just a little too early for peak, but you should be getting some color changes. we will be in the adirondacks during that week and hopefully being further north, it will be peak season.

Color was just getting good last weekend, gorgeous views throughout. I'm guessing next weekend will be the height of color. I can't make it out next weekend, but I'll be out again on a shorter hike the week after that ... gotta see Grassy Ridge and Roan Mountain with my girlfriend ;->

Lower elevations have some reds and yellows. With it being so dry on Roan, most of everything should be brown or yellow.

The colors are not that great around Erwin. It is a very dry between Uncle Johnny's and Spivey Gap. The only water source we saw was the spring right before No Business Shelter. It was dry as a bone after that.
