Time sure does fly by when working. The summer is gone and it is time to do some hiking! Leaving on Sunday to head up to Maine and start hiking south. I will be traveling through the winter hopefully reaching Springer in the beginning of March. VERY excited to get back on the trail. Last years thru hike was amazing.

I love the AT!

Dude, nice work. A very interesting time of year to hike the trail. I'd definitely like to geive the winter hike a try sometime. Met a guy named Bookworm who started is NOBO in late November - met him in Monson June 9th. He had so many great stories different than the average thru hiker fare.
If you're journalling it'd be cool to read about it. Especially hiking over the Whites in November. Enjoy.
Peace

Thanks for the encouragement everybody! I really enjoy coming to White Blaze.

I passed by Bookworm on my thru last year. I can't remember exactly where but it was in VA right near a bridge that was out. This was in the middle of Dec a little north of SNP.

Great time to be out in Maine! Up Bigelow last weekend, a few straggler thru hikers still out but besides that, weekdays are quiet!
Maybe see you out there somewhere.
Have a great hike!

Yes, chances are if you walk through Maine you'll meet Woodsy. I've done it twice and met him once. Pretty good odds.:)

Even better odds than Woodsy. I've hiked through Hanover once and met JT once. 1 for 1.

i met a fellow named Vlad the Impaler going SOBO thru the 100-mile wilderness a couple of weeks ago. he'd completed a PCT hike this year and wanted to keep walking. i think his goal was to see if he could make it through the Whites before winter shut them down, but wasn't committed to a full-on SOBO thruhike when i saw him.
