I'm planning a section hike from Newfound Gap to Davenport Gap next week. I'll be staying at Pecks Corner Shelter and Cosby Knob Shelter. According to GSMNP water source reports, the only reliable water along the trail is at Cosby Knob (3 qt/min as of 10-5-07). I'm planning to "camel up" at Newfound Gap and carry one gallon per day (2 gallon total) to get from Newfound to Cosby. Given the cooler temperatures and relatively level terrain along the ridges, is that sufficient?:-? Or will my parched bones become just another trail marker? thanks for all the help.;)
