What is a reasonably priced lightweight 1-person tent or reasonably priced tarp that you would recommend. i'm looking to stray into the tarp shelter system but possibly want to stick with a tent still. My current tent is our two-person North face Slickrock that weighs 4 lbs. 3 oz.

Thanks,

I would suggest a hennessey hammock but if you choose to remain on the ground, one of Henry Shires Tarptents, you can even make it yourself.

Campmor is selling the Spitfire by Eureka for $100 - great deal, make sure you do not get the newer version that is slightly lighter and much more difficult to set up, well that's my view.

Light Year by Sierra Designs is a classic thru-hiking tent, can pick one up for about $100 as well at Campmor

Eureka single person. About 2 lbs. Full screen front and top (with full length zipper access and full front opening) with attached stake down fly. Never have to worry about loss of sleep due to skeetos etc, and the ground is much more comfy than a shelter floor.
Also takes up very little space in your pack.
Peace

Oh and. . .:welcome

and :bse

and :datzjust because I think he forgot his tent:)

this set up is better than being in a shelter my 12 x 12 tarp and jungle hammock has 17 ft ridge line and i have lots of room to coo and store my
gear and i can use my hammock as a chair,i can set up in a major down
pour, deploying my tarp 1 st and taking it down last while me and my
gear remain dry:cool: neo

I'll second that. I love my hammock, and Henry's products can get you a whole lotta living space for a couple pounds. To me, that's the trade-off of the hammock: you get a great night's sleep, but not much space to move around in. 'Course if you get a bigger tarp for the hammock, you've got some space, and a built-in chair.

You should seriously look into the Tarptents or Sixmoon designs. They offer good lightweight stuff that will make the transition easy for a double waller like yourself.
