Has any one ever done this?
Just a thought.

I'm not sure what you mean by stealth camping at Clingman's Dome? It's not allowed, it's illegal, but that doesn't mean it's stealth. Stealth is off trail, away from people, hardly seen.

Stealth being not getting caught. Pretty sure since the road will be closed no one except hikers in january will be up there.

I always thought staying in the shelters/campsites is an advisery not a ticketable offense.

You can get a ticket.

Wow not really worth it then I'll stick to the shelter

BUT, you can only get the ticket from the Ranger. A ridge runner only gives you an advisory. The problem with that spot is it is easy for a ranger to catch you at it.

Not worth a run in with the Ranger...

The fine is up to $5,000 and 6 months in the big house. It's not a place you would want to stay anyway, too open, cold, and everything is trampled.
