View Full Version : Hurricane Noal & the Drought
How much rain is Noal going to give GA, and the rest of the AT States??? Is it going to make an inpact??
Is it now a hurricane? Last time I checked, it was a tropical storm. If we are talking about the same storm, it slammed the Dominican Republic with 20 inches of rain, and it now has time to move over the Gulf, and become stronger. Hopefully gets hurt when it slams the coast, but they do need the water.

Noel is still a tropical storm. Once it makes landfall, it's doubtful that it will intensify to hurricane strength...
Last i heard the weather service thinks once it gets past Cuba it is going to make a turn and just skim the east coast and go back out to the Atlantic? I know it doesn't mean its not going to tear a few things up along the coast, but I wish the thing would just slowly creep up this way and dump a few inches here.............

Almost no chance for Georgia. But, don't fret yet. The overall pattern has changed somewhat this month. It's a much more active one now. For all we know, this winter and next spring could be a washout, or at least get the Southeast back to normal. Time will tell. Remember the 2002 drought dissolved into the wettest year on record (2003) for many areas. That shift happened around mid-Autumn.
It may be more exciting under the cloud cover.

I suppose this is one of those times when you really hope either killing a daddy long legs brings water, or you whip out your dance to the rain gods.
If it helps, Maine has not had rain that much over the last month, one storm last week, but nothing much besides that.

It's actually a hurricane now. Looks like there's potential for New England to get some action, especially if the storm tracks a bit west of the current predictions.
Doesn't look very likely to be there by the weekend, however...
