Some years ago I remember reading about a female hiker from Bennington disappearing from a hike on Glastenbury back in the 1940s which was followed by several other similar occurances in that area. Anyone out there that is familiar with this area and the story behind this? Imagine there must be other "Bermuda Triangle" type stories over the years from other sections of the AT.

I believe this was alluded to in "Walk in the Woods."

There is a local (read: New England") author by the last name of Citro who has published two books retelling regional folktales, local lore, and other stories that have basis in truth. One of the books was titled "Passing Strange," which I know for sure contains an interesting tale about Mt. Moosilauke and the 200 year old doctor who might still be hanging around on the summit. The title of the other...eludes me for the moment. Anyway, my recollection was that many of the disappearences around Bennington occurred between 1930 and 1950.
