We are wanting to do a one or two nighter in a couple weeks. We're wanting to head south of Wayah Bald since we have completed the section North to Fontana-we're saving the Smokies for next summer:)! Really all we need are suggestions about which sections would make a good 1 or 2 nighter-as far as easy shuttling access and should we do a SOBO or NOBO? Thanks!:-?

Whatever you decide, I suggest you get in touch with Ron Haven in Franklin, and use Franklin as a "basecamp" for your trip. One of his motels would be a good place to leave your car and he's absolutely the best person in the area to help with your shuttling. Plus you'd have a nice place to come back to when you finish your trip.

Thanks! We definitely wanted to call Ron for a little shuttle help. We're in the process of trying to decide exactly where to drive to and get Ron to pick us up. Choices, choices, choices! Thanks for the number!:)

A friend and I just did that section. Ron Haven was an awesome help.
The best views probably were in the section between Deep Gap and Rock Gap.
