Iat - Me ?

When I finally finish section hiking the New England AT, I would love to go on and hike the IAT in Maine from Baxter Peak to the New Brunswick border. However, as it stands now, it is simply one long road walk, from BSP to the border swath. This unfortunate situation is apprently the result of no landowner in Maine wishing to host the trail. Does anyone have a good feeling as to where this is going? I have many other trails (Northern Forest Canoe, Catamount, Cohos, etc.) top keep me occupied, but will the IAT - ME be a path to hike in our lifetime?
