I carry a fairly small tent. As a former tarp user, I am comfortable in the Nomad tent, which is about 10.5' x 3' by about 3' tall.
Total weight 1 Lb 15 Oz, and is held up with my Adjustable trekking poles (1/5 lbs for the two).

Drawbacks: way less room than my tarp. If you are used to a traditional tent, it has no real door, just a "Noseeum" door. "Must" be staked out.

Plusses: A nice if small front vestibule, 2 windows (in the new ones, after mine was made) Very light weight. Quick set up time (under 2 minutes if I need to). Room enough for me & my gear. Darn sturdy, has withstood winds of 30+ with no noticable strain. The footprint aint that much bigger than a Bivy sack, so I can set up almost anywhere. Only requires 3 tent stakes to set up. The tent poles are my trekking poles, I would carry them anyway, so no added weight.

I currently use a Eureka! Solitaire and am looking at a Eureka! Zeus Exo 2. I carry my Solitaire JIC there is no room in a shelter, but I want the EXO 2 for the space. I can't fit me and my pack in the Solitaire, but other than that it's a great tent.

Any opinions about the Zeus Exo 2??

I use the Eureka Gossamer for long hikes, It measures in at about 2'8 x 8', and the pack wt. is only 2lbs.12oz.

I use a Hennessy Hammock right now, but I'm considering the Mountain Hardware WayPoint (1 or 2) single-wall tent for cold-weather camping. Click here (http://www.mountainhardwear.com/www/action/catalog/DisplayStyle?id=889) for the info on the WayPoint 1 (20 square feet, 2 lbs 2 oz, $195).
