Someone just sent me this in an email with the title: your night hiking needs answered. I was ROTFL and thought I'd share the laugh.

Hmmmm.... wonder what that thing weighs and if it comes in titanium.

If that is a real gadget, I have an old aunt that would love one.
She would be the talk of the breakfast hen party.

If you remove the tip from the bottom, it becomes a light sabre.

:D You can laugh, but someone's gonna make a fortune off that. Brilliant idea (no pun intended).
Is there a light-weight backpacker's version?

One of my coworkers just told me about a new gadget he got for his Nalgenes. Evidently, you can get a cap that has batteries and a light in it. Turns your Nalgene into a lantern, with or without water in it. I gotta check this one out.

Why? Just make your own with a 1-led keychain light and some duct tape.
Just make sure to get a light with an actual switch. Wouldn't be very useful if you had to hold the button down.
