Got this in my email tonight. Thought someone might want to know.

Breaking News from Great Smoky Mountains National Park:
November 15, 4:11 pm: Highway 441 between Gatlinburg and Cherokee, NC is closed due to ice and snow. An additional 2-4 inches of snowfall is expected tonight. The road will remained closed at least through Friday. For updates, visit http://www.mysmokymountainvacation.com or call 865-436-1200 (option 2, option 2).

This is our first snowfall in the Smokies for the season. The snow is beautiful as it falls quietly on the trees that have reached their peak of fall colors. It was 72 degrees in Gatlinburg yesterday and below the freezing point in the higher elevations today.

I thought the mountains looked snowy when I went out this evening. Hope any hikers who are up there knew the temp drop was coming. I'd say it'll be in the low teens or maybe even single digits up there with wind tonight.
