Why? isnt this the forum section for meeting hiking partners?

Of course, but you might have better luck on Craigslist. There are only a few NYC hikers here. I live here but when I go hiking I want to be by myself.

I do a lot of weekend stuff in the catskills, daks and whites and reside about 100 N of the city. Mostly snowshoeing though.

Your right - I believe you should be able to find some hiking partners on this thread. For your immediate hiking locale. I'm not sure why someone else would point you to another site. Welcome to Whiteblaze.

Hey I am not sure where you are looking to hike but If you want to catch the Train up to Pawling sometime. they even have a stop right on the AT I would be happy to head out with you some. I am sure that there are others like me. I forget who it was but I saw that one guy lived over by Harriman SP you could also take a train out that way and maybe hook up.

I agree with Doggiebag this is part of the reason for a site like this.

Let me suggest that you sign up for this http://groups.yahoo.com/group/harrimanhike/
It's a very active group with members from all over the NYC, metro area, and beyond

Hey, don't know where you're looking to hike but the Harriman station is close by the trails, catch the train up sometime. I hike the AT and Harriman trails and always looking to get out for the day or weekend or longer.
