On Oct 31 I ordered a 2007 AT Thru Hikers Handbook from someone who posted the information on whiteblaze. It was a site where one could order the 2007 or 2008 book. I paid a total of $23.50 and it has now shown up on my credit card statement. I have never recieved the book or any information from the supplier. Unfortunately I can not find either my email reciept or the string on whiteblaze from where I got the initial information. Can anyhone direct me to the string where I got the information? Is this a scam? I can still get it taken off my credit card.

Usually when charges shows up on your credit card it means the item been shipped. When did you notice the charges on your statement?

I'm not sure the book has been published yet.

If not, it'd be kind of hard for them to ship it to you.

I'd contact the website to see what's up.

if you ordered the 2007 book, contact the trailplace webmaster at [email protected].

If it was an 08 handbook you ordered, that will not be ready until january, which means you will recieve it by the end of the month.

Bob McCaw is hard at work on the 2008 Thru Hiker's Handbook.

I recently spoke with the author/publisher.

The 2008 Handbook will be out by the middle of January.

I tried to order the 2007 Thru-Hiker's Handbook, but it won't accept my debit card. Does anyone else have a problem with this? I double checked all my numbers and I use my card all the time, so I know it is valid.

Wait a few weeks, and instead order the 2008 book. It'll be shipped by mid-January, and you're always better off getting the most current guidebook available.

I had a small conversation with Bob McCaw at Trashgiving, very nice man, like Jack said, mid-January.

I emailed Bob McCaw and he said he had sent my 2007 Thru Hiker handbook by priority mail. However, I never recieved it. He promptly sent me another one. Three days later it arrived in the mail. I emailed him and thanked him for solving the problem.

Bob McCaw stopped at my place during his Thru-Drive back in November. :)

He arrived unannounced, but I was home at the time, so we got to spend some time talking about the book, and other trail issues.

I am sure Bob will make good any mix ups with your book orders, give him a few weeks to get settled into his new job.
